Federal Consumer Bureau Fields Thousands of Student Loan Complaints

Jun 18, 2012

Yahoo News – College graduates and current students have responded by the thousands to the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s calls to post their complaint about the current financial aid and student loan system online. Students and parents have complained of predatory lending practices and an inability to escape debt even after decades of paying loans. The near-consensus end result has been delayed life decisions like marriage and home buying, as well as undue financial hardship and in some cases, poverty. The CFPB asked for these stories as part of its overall investigation into the student loan industry. The bureau has published more than 2,000 stories so far.
