Christian Science Monitor – Democrats and Republicans have competing education plans in Washington to fill vacant jobs. Democrats want more students to attend traditional two- and four-year colleges, while Republicans want to include private non-profit colleges in that mix. Neither plan has received much attention on the campaign trail, but following the release this week of a Congressional report criticizing for-profit colleges, it has become a heated topic in Congress. Both sides seem to agree that it’s easier to create new graduates to fill existing job openings rather than create jobs in industries today’s workforce can fill.
